I am a speech teacher and dictionary. Com used to clearly provide IPA phonetics and pronunciations. No the audio doesn’t play reliably and the IPA is covered over with other type so its illegible. I can no longer reccomend this to my students. Sad

Bring back the retards learners tab

Many, if not most, definition examples are political and represent far-left agenda. Stay apolitical Dictionary. Com.

I use the dictionary app almost daily. There’s a lot of words you think you might’ve spelled one way and it’s really another or you may not know the exact meaning.

Thank you so much for offering a platform where I can get a true definition of a word, a thesaurus, and some time needed, correct spellings. In a heart beat I am able to recognize and define true speech when spoken, whether it be by me or a colleague. This is what makes us human, hopefully restricting us form becoming ravenous animals that we are. Keep the peace my friends.

The search function does not work at all on Apple Watch, it brings up the word with no definition. I tried restarting the app and watch and letting it sit for a few days but nothing works. The searched word won’t even show up in recents. It looks like other people are having this problem too so I hope this bug gets fixed so it’s workable again🙏

I could deal with pop up ads, but forced, 30 second ads? No thank you.

I don’t like the ads. I type in a word… it goes to the definition. If I put in a second word… aaaaad…. If I go to the thesaurus… aaaaad… If I choose a word from the thesaurus and want to put it into the dictionary.. aaaaaad. I sit there and wait almost a minute between functions. NEXT! I’ll find another one.

I really like having the ability to search any word I want with no issues

App crashes often. I use the app for writing copy and find the thesaurus helpful… when it works.

I have used this app for several years. However, I am now removing it from my phone because the ads are incessant. It is absurd to have to watch a thirty second ad (that freezes and requires me to close and reopen the app) just to see synonyms of a word. I will simply use my internet browser to search for synonyms in the future.

Now that you have to watch ads to look at definitions, the ads never pop up so all you see is a black screen and it just stays that way. Even if you exit out, it just starts over. Going to delete app and use a different one.

I frequently read books, as I am now, that are set in other countries that use the English language as well as the language native to a particular country in less than a familiar fashion. I’m often searching the meaning of a particular text, therefore dictionary is is a great help! Thank you!

Works terrible never got pass page

This app used to be so good but now it’s always crashing. On that note, you should be able to seamlessly check the definition of a word and check the same word in thesaurus w/o having to type it again

It often takes ten seconds to load a definition.

Amazing app

I use Dictionary.com almost every day not only for vocabulary, but also as for spelling, pronunciation, and crossword puzzles. I wish I could find easily find a way to alert your editors of mistakes or inconsistencies. The crux of the matter is that just now the app gave me a two-syllable pronunciation for “crux,” even though the IPA, the written phonetics, and common sense show “crux” has only one syllable. How can the audio be fixed?

Love it. Except for the pop up ads.

Liked it better before update. Sorry but it wasn’t just easier to use but also it came closer to the word I was trying to spell & use. Sorry again but when trying to spell a word you could put in what you thought it sounded like & it would give you words to choose from instead of what you thought word was suppose to be.

Something in the app breaks down. I try to find a word, turns all screen black. Use the offline mode, didn’t download the dictionary as advertised. Can’t find the word? Try this word, the same one you looked up but still doesn’t work.

With smart volunteering dictionary, this helps us about everything to learned from anything during the time of the sentences.

The learners tab has been removed I’ve also paid for the power pack. I used the learners all the time, now the app is not as good

This app has always been a huge help. I’ve been using it for years and nothing else compares. If I stumble upon a word I’m not sure of, all I have to do is open this app and I can have the meaning in an instant. Very helpful! God bless you all!

I don't understand the positive reviews, this app is broken.

Can’t start the without brushing up on our language!

Where is the learner part??? It was the most useful part in this dictionary and was the most important part for learners, I bought this app because of this part and it’s not available no longer, please put it back.

I cannot understand why you would use the same word to define a word. Lazy

I paid for this app on my Android years ago, now I’m on iOS and when I click “forget password “ it says “Forgot password? Oops! This page doesn’t exist anymore. We are currently removing user accounts from Dictionary.com and Thesaurus.com. When we release the next version of the app, we will remove the options for login, logout, and account management. In the meantime, we apologize for the inconvenience.”. Why not transfer user credentials to the new app so we don’t have to pay again?

When I use the voice it doesn’t pick up the whole word

I had this app but I thought it would be like a regular dictionary I could use to look up words. The only way you could find a word is if you know it and type it in.

Most of the words I speak into the dictionary are not understood by the app. I use this app very little now and prefer Google or AI apps.

They are bad, show up a lot

Kudos on Apple Dictionary, extremely useful, access it daily.

Great for building vocabulary
